Future Leaders' Network

The Future Leaders' Network (FLN) is for younger professionals to build a network and learn from international peers.

Whilst the majority of our members come from the boardrooms of national regulatory authorities, senior strategic teams from industry and practice leaders in law firms, it is widely agreed that some of the most innovative and exciting ideas come from emerging markets and moreover, emerging individuals. The Future Leaders' Network gives up-and-coming commissioners, and rising stars in legal, policy and international relations teams, a forum in which they:

  1. Build strategic and influential international relationships with senior colleagues
  2. Present their own work and ideas and raise their industry profile
  3. Explore far-reaching implications of new technology on society and the global economy
  4. Keep up to date with new legislation, precedents and case studies
  5. Take part in discussion forums, training courses and events

Competition subject for 2019: Global Realities, National Choices: Communications Policy making a cross-sectoral, cross-jurisdictional world?
We are delighted to announce that the winner of the 2019 Future Leaders’ Competition is Angel Fu, Associate at Clifford Chance, Australia. Angel will be presenting her winning entry, entitled Playing Fair in the Platforms Playground - A Case for Regulatory Neutrality and International Cooperation, at our 50th Annual Conference in London this October.

DSC 0086“The IIC Future Leaders' Competition was a fantastic opportunity to develop my own thinking on a hot topic, it was great to have the freedom to think outside the box. I was so surprised when I won the Competition – and was immediately asked which flights I wanted to Mexico! The Future Leaders' Competition is a unique opportunity to: get published; speak at a major conference; and network with so many global industry and regulatory leaders. I think next time half the office will be entering.”

Tim Hogg, FLN Competition Winner 2018

Last year's winner, Tim Hogg, who submitted his entry on last year’s subject What are your views on the Sociology of Technology?, presented his paper at the Annual Conference in Mexico. Here he is being interviewed by Chair of the Judging Panel, Dr Derek Wilding. You can watch the video of his presentation here.
